The brief: To come up with a system, service or product using sustainable food and farming for a healthy wellbeing. I decided to focus on the Malaysian community where sustainability isn't a common practice amongst the young generation.
Ulam will be the star of the main dish which I will use to promote a healthy yet sustainable way of eating. Ulam is a traditional Malaysian dish full of herbs and spices that has vital nutrients and it does wonders to the human body providing energy and a healthy glow.
However, it is a dying dish. My aim is to get back this dish for younger generations with a contemporary twist of flavours. And so, I created a service where the user can sign up to their nearest local fresh market where they will be taken on a tour with other new comers on the many ways of eating ulam sustainably using local produce picked by the farmers of Malaysia.
Afterwards, a follow up of a workshop session where they can get information on the benefits of ulam and how to cook it.

A website showing information about ulam, the different types of workshop held, how to get in touch and many more.

These are ulam bags that I hand sewn specially made to be used for the market tour. Since my brand is sustainable, I created bags out of canvas material to be reused each time the user visits their local fresh market. These were inspired by plastic bags that I often see in the markets of Malaysia which had lead me to create a more environmentally friendly approach. It comes in size small or large with the ingredients list already inside.
